Live Event Webcasting

CoverThis Photography is proud to offer a new service to it’s customers: Live Event Webcasting.

Web 2.0:

Over the past few years there have been many buzzwords floating around pertaining to new technology and new trends. Attempting to fit one’s mind around all of the new catch phrases ‘hot new things’ is enough for a full-time job in many respects. However, anyone who spends much of any time on the Internet is sure to have heard of one such buzzword a number of times: Web 2.0

What is this “Web 2.0?” Web Two-point-Oh refers to the new trend in web technologies towards highly interactive, engaging and robust user experiences. This refers to the trend away from the blocky highly structured (or loosely, depending on how you look at it) user experiences of the Internet of the past, and towards experiences that draw the user in, allow the user to interact with the Internet in a more human way, and allow the user to do new and exciting things in a really powerful way.

Event 2.0

So how does this affect you and your upcoming event? Well, there aren’t many people who remember the days when the radio was a family’s primary connection to the world (I know I sure don’t), and the impact of the TV when it served to connect whole communities, not just in audio, but full moving pictures. However, if you can remember this, or at least imagine what kind of impact the TV had, the emergence of Web 2.0 technologies, and more specifically to your upcoming event, Live Web Streaming of audio/video content, is sort of like that. No longer is your viewing audience limited to the broadcast area of your local TV station (or the auditorium of the event), now you can reach viewers in a few more towns to the east, a few states to the south, and all the way on the other side of the globe. With high-quality audio and video. In real time!

CoverThis Photography is proud to be able to bring this exciting technology to you next event.

How it works:

With new services on the internet coming to be every day, live streaming is ow available to the masses easier than ever before. If you have a webcam on your computer, you can live-stream an event or video in minutes thanks to services such as UStream, Justin.tv and more. However your event is more important than just that. Your event deserves professional coverage in high-quality from someone with years of photo and video experience, who can not only stream your event across the globe, but do it in such a way as to attract and capture an audience, and not be just ho-hum.

CoverThis Photography can provide:

  • A live streaming webcast of your event on UStream (on the CoverThis account, as that will be easiest for manageability) that will be recorded for viewing after the event for a minimum of two weeks (more on agreement) and able to be burnt to disc after the event for archival (per agreement).
  • The stream will consist of a minimum of two camera coverage (one wide shot and one close-up camera), allowing for establishing shots, as well as close-ups of contestants/speakers.
  • Professional smooth transitions between shots, as well as lower-thirds titles for contestants/speakers, and the ability for left or right side presentation of sponsors or other messages/content.
  • The ability to integrate with existing camera and sound crew if desired and agreed, as well as integrating with video presentations on stage (projector presentations) if desired and agreed.
  • As well as live polling of webcast viewers, live chat, and metrics information on viewing audience (features of UStream).

Don’t want to just give the stream away? Pending the completion of custom software just for this purpose, CoverThis Photography will be able to provide on-line webcast ticket sales and management. You set the price and your audience pays a small sum of money to view your live stream. Subsequent recorded viewings are traditionally free of charge.

Due to the Terms of Service of the current stream service we use, charging for views is currently only available to not-for-profit entities.

What does this cost you?

Payment can be negotiated on a per project basis, but starting point fees are travel and lodging expenses (within reasonable distance of event) as deemed necessary during negotiations, as well as 50% of ticket sales.
