30 Years of good old fashioned Family Fun and Bluegrass Music, transforming a humble campground in Brunswick, Maine into one of the better known Bluegrass Festivals in America, has come to an end. This weekend marked the end of an era at Thomas Point Beach, and to commemorate the event people turned out by the droves to share their little piece of the story that was the TPB Bluegrass Festival. It was emotional, hysterical, and incredibly nostalgic.

I am not really any good at strong poignant writing, so I will keep it short and simple… If you missed out on this event over the past 30 or so years… You really missed out. This festival is responsible for marriages, children, original music, fire-dogs, even a small religion or two. It was a life-shaping event.

September 6th, 2009 was in honor of 30 years of hard work and family fun. I would also like to congratulate Pati Crooker for winning 2008 Event of the year (for the 29th annual Thomas Point Beach Bluegrass Festival) which she if considering putting in the capsule as well, and for her upcoming Distinguished Achievement Award!

Originally intended to be a sunrise wedding, the ceremony began at 9am on the coast of Maine (the earliest Reid State Park would admit visitors), but it couldn’t have worked out any better. The early morning fog, as thick as it was, broke just in time to reveal one of the prettiest Maine Wedding scenes CoverThis Photography has ever seen.

Caleb and Miranda, your friends and family wish you the best of luck on your journeys together, and may every day together be as beautiful as this, the first.

You can be told many things by friends and family, but there are just some things you need to learn on your own to really grasp.

One of those things is the importance of regular back-ups.

Not of photos and personal documents, people usually grasp that fairly quick out of the gate. I am talking about the less obvious things, things you take for granted due to assumed security and false promises. I am talking about your website content.

The webhost I was previously with seems to have gone under. Their main page is still up, but they are unresponsive in any channel, and they have taken a liking to dropping customers accounts with out notice. I was recently one of those customers. Luckily I had regular backups of my web design and template, but in the event of being cast to the curb, I failed to have backups of the itsy bitsy words and content of my site, and thus, after changing to a backup host, I am left with what you see here.

So, for the next few days/weeks, I will be adding content BACK to my website, and oh so much more. I will take this opportunity to expand the site, and finish little parts I had let slip the first time.

I will also be making backups, you know, just in case…

[For clients: My images are on a different collocation server with nightly backups and redundancy across the country. In addition I maintain three backups of culled photos in separate locations, as well as at the office. Client photo backups are not lacking in any way, and the server debacle here did not effect availability of those memories]

I had the opportunity this weekend to shoot the wedding of a few good friends of mine, Sam J McMillan and Jessica Giancola. I have known Sam J and Jess for too long to remember, before they were dating even (which has been a long time). So when they came to me to cover their most important of days, how could I resist?

The ceremony was held at the Bowdoin College chapel, in Brunswick, Maine. It’s a beautiful chapel, with high ceilings and stained glass, with the astounding Bowdoin College Commons out front. Coupled with perfect weather, it truly was the perfect day. No one could have asked for more.
